The Science Behind It

By Karter Johnson, Compiled by Zandra A. Cunningham

I have been participating in #MCBD2021 Multicultural Children’s Book Day for the past two years and It’s been an amazing experience. It’s a great initiative to bring diverse voices to the foreground and celebrate all the amazing authors/creators out there and their stories. I was gifted this book “The Science Behind It” to review.

The book is a collection of 11 stories of young entrepreneurs. It  has a personal account of each of their dreams, their struggles, and their triumphs in their own words.  It also has a section for each of them introducing the reader to their business and their impact. As I read it, I was in awe of each of these young personalities.

Each story is inspiring and unique –

Trinity Bush’s positive audio/apparel affirmations, Karter Johnson’s subscription book box, Sharnae Hunt’s apparel design, and YouTube content, Shaiann Hogan’s indie nail polish, Femi Cooper Richardson’s sweet shop, Z’Hania Mccullough’s hair growth oil, Kaelyn Clark-Middleton’s bath bombs and soaps, Marqes Diallo’s motivational speeches, Anaya Fernando’s sugar sweet bath + body treats, Jade Kelly’s empowerment accessories, Saniyya Hunt’s sassy nail products –

They each had their struggles, their journey, successes. But there are some common threads too –  grit and persistence, creativity, and a burning desire to create an impact in the world. There is so much to learn and absorb from these new-generation stars. Their stories have filled me with hope for our future!
