I feel really grateful today having just done a book reading at the San Francisco Public Library on the joint occasion of Children’s Book Week and Asian Heritage month. The building at Larkin Street is central and well connected. This time I had two special guests with me. My parents visiting me from India accompanied me to the reading. As soon as we reached the place our hostess Lyn was there helping us with parking, escorting us and making us comfortable. I felt so welcome. Thanks, Lyn for being such a great hostess! We had a good crowd. A lot of young kids. My best part was watching them “knead the dough” and “make little balls” of Gulab Jamuns as I read the story. It is such a joy to see kids following and enjoying a story that came from my heart. After the reading, we shared some Gulab Jamuns with the kids and parents. They loved trying it. Lyn also held a raffle that was super exciting for everyone. We concluded by making some paper lanterns to celebrate Asian Heritage month. It was great to see little hands carrying their colorful creations out. Hopefully, the event was as memorable to them as to me!
