An Indian American writer’s campaign on National Day of Writing!

Did you know that, today, October 20th is the National Day of Writing? It was first instituted in 2009 by the National Council of Teachers of English and was officially recognized through Senate resolutions. This is a day set aside for Americans to consider the role of writing in everyday life.

To commemorate this special day, Bay Area author Sandhya Acharya is starting a campaign on Kickstarter to fund the publication of her book, “Ten Gulab Jamuns.” She feels that it is important to have children’s books reflect our multicultural identities. The book will serve as a window for all children into Indian-American culture, while helping Indian-American children see their own life experiences reflected within the pages of a book.

A laudable goal and a campaign to support for sure!
